The Smarter Science of Slim and why it's on my Blog
During my search for answers on health, nutrition and fitness, I stumbled across a Podcast called The Smarter Science of Slim. I figured that I would give a listen to it. The show was hosted by a guy named Jonathan Bailor and he was talking about Eating more and exercising less...Smarter.
If anyone can hit that sweet spot with me, it is someone who says I can eat more and exercise less. The information that was being shared to me was very interesting. He would talk about all sorts of food and how we should eat more of this and less of that. But the thing that really connected with me was the idea of eating natural.
Eating natural was something that for a long time I gave a lot of thought to. I was not brought up on eating natural foods. Even though my parents cooked a lot, There was a large amount of processed foods, and refined sugars that were fed to me. Leading me into this downward habit of being unhealthy.
So in the year leading up to me finding the Smarter Science of Slim, the natural/paleo approach was already beginning to take shape in my mind. I was figuring if cavemen and farmers could be so healthy living off of natural food, then there really shouldn't be a reason why I am not doing this as well.
So when I first started to listen to Jonathan Bailor's Podcasts, we were already getting off on the right foot. Jonathan was also trying to get people to his book, The Smarter Science of Slim, which had more detailed information that he wasn't going to give away on his Podcasts. Why should he? So I bought the book, and was finished reading it in less than 5 days.
The Smarter Science of Slim "fed" me information that I already knew, but didn't know how to apply it. It gave me the back up to what I was already thinking for over a year. Jonathan did a great job in breaking the thousands of studies down into a basic communication. He didn't get to "geeky" over the information in the book. And that is what I needed.
He also talks about the Smarter exercise approach, which is something that I will get into in another blog post.
So now the reason why I have this on my blog is because it ties in almost directly with the DDP Yoga eating plan. As soon as I read the plan in the DDP Yoga book, I was like "right on"! Now I got two great sources to a natural and healthy eating approach that I was already feeding my brain about for over a year.
At first, changing the way I eat was very challenging, especially when the people in your life are not wanting to follow such an approach. It took some time to take away certain foods out of my diet. But one notch at a time is what I was doing.
I'm now at a stage in my life, where eating healthy is an addiction and I love it! I love eating salads and tons and tons of vegetables. I don't really like the feeling I get now after eating bread. I love bread, don't get me wrong, but I definitely don't go out of my way to eat it anymore.
My body is still and always will be a work in progress. But through both of these great sources and support systems, It will be very hard for me to steer off the course...
If you want more information on the Smarter Science of Slim, I suggest you download the shows on ITunes as well as check out the website I downloaded the book and it was like 8 bucks. It is truly a great read.
Until next time my fellow Bloggers,,, time to go workout and own my life!!!!
