In the beginning.... a brief view of who I am

My name is Steve Langer.  I am a 35 year old from Massachusetts.  I am a 20 year independent professional wrestler and have been a huge fan of the sport since I was a child.  I work for a major fortune 500 company in the health care industry.   I have a beautiful  fiancé who is my faithful support system.

Throughout my entire life I  have battled with being overweight.  when I was a young Hulk-a-maniac running wild through the neighborhood, I was always wearing the "husky" sized clothes.  I was never ever really largely overweight, but I was not average if you know what I mean.

HERE I AM AS A KID PROBABLY IN 3RD GRADE OR SO

Needless to say,  the battleground was set forth at a very early age.  Looking back I can't blame my parents for the weight gain, because my mother only fed me food that she thought was good for me as well.  Don't get me wrong, there were quite a bit of vegetable helpings that I passed up as a youngster and I'm sure things would have been a little different for me going forward.

As I entered high school I was already getting involved with weight training.  I had my first gym membership before I could even drive.  At the time in those early 90's I was really starting to get interested more in becoming a professional wrestler and really interested in bodybuilding.  I was studying both sports equally.  I was going to Gold's Gym and banging out the weights.  I never played sports growing up until I started weight training and wrestling professionally.

About 3 months before  I started training to be a Pro Wrestler

When I was 15 years old I finally started to live out my dream of becoming a professional wrestler.   There was a local independent promotion based in New Bedford MA called New England Wrestling. At that time, there weren't many wrestling schools to choose from.  I had goals of some day when I turned 18 to go to Calgary or The Monster Factory,  but this  school was 30 minutes away from me.  One of my closest friends and long time independent wrestler TJ Richter signed up to train with me.  We were both in the same high school and our parents would take turns driving us to wrestling practice.

When I started training to be a pro wrestler I weighed in at a weak 190 pounds or so.  My training was being run by former WWF enhancement talent Silvano Sousa.   He was from the old school of training and we were  doing drills after drills after drills.  It wasn't long before I was starting to pack on some serious muscle.   After my first year or two training and wrestling, my weight was starting to get heavier.   I was up to 250 pounds by the time I graduated high school.

HERE I AM IN ONE OF MY FIRST CHARACTERS AT 18 YEARS OLD

Unfortunately,  my healthy eating habits didn't stick with me very long.  My weight starting increasing over the next few years of my early adulthood.  I always continued to workout and had numerous gym memberships.  I always managed to continue wrestling even though with the increasing weight it was starting to cause injuries.   I tore my ACL at such a young age but that didn't hold me back.

By the time I was 21 years old, my weight was climbing.  I was tipping the scales at or  around 350 pounds.   My weight for the next 10 years or so started to yo-yo.   I managed to get down to 270 or something, but then it would go up again.  It would go down and then up for years.   It would  hover around 290 up until 2012.

In 2012 my weight started climbing again.   I was 315.

And that is my journey takes a turn.  When I saw that picture,  the wires in my brain finally started to connect correctly.   I was on the path to making a change once and for all.

IT IS TIME FOR A CHANGE......
